Laser Cutting Foam

Types and thickness of foam processed

We laser cut foam suitable for laser processing, most commonly used for packaging, protective inserts, and technical solutions. Cutting capabilities depend on the foam density, structure, and thickness.
The best results are achieved when cutting foam up to 20 mm thick, which allows maintaining shape and precise contours. Thicker foam is evaluated individually, as increasing thickness causes the cutting line to curve and reduces cutting quality.

Precision and applications

Laser cutting allows precise cutting of both simple geometric shapes and complex contours with internal cutouts. Since cutting is performed without physical contact, the foam is not pressed or mechanically deformed during the process.
Laser cutting of foam is most commonly used for:
Manufacturing packaging and protective inserts,
Shaping technical components,
Prototypes and test solutions,
Custom shapes where precise fitting is required.

Cut properties and edge appearance

When cutting foam with a laser, the cut edges may be slightly sealed due to thermal effects. This is often considered an advantage, as it reduces foam crumbling or dusting at the cut edges. Depending on the foam type and density, the appearance of the cut edges may vary. Before production, appropriate parameters are selected to achieve an optimal balance between cut cleanliness and shape accuracy.

Foam cutting is performed using provided vector files (DXF, SVG, PDF). Before production, we evaluate the foam type, density, thickness, and part complexity to select appropriate cutting parameters and ensure consistent results.
