Laser Cutting Cork

Types and thickness of cork processed

We laser cut natural cork and cork-based sheets used for interior, insulation, decorative, and technical solutions. Cutting capabilities depend on cork density, pressing method, and thickness.
Thinner cork with a uniform structure allows more precise cuts and cleaner contours. Thicker cork sheets are evaluated individually, as increased thickness intensifies thermal effects and changes the appearance of cut edges.

Precision and applications

Laser cutting allows precise cutting of both simple geometric shapes and complex contours with internal cutouts. Due to the non-contact cutting method, cork is not crumbled or compressed, preserving part shape and dimensional accuracy.
Laser cutting of cork is most commonly used for:
Interior and acoustic elements,
Insulation and protective components,
Packaging and insert solutions,
Decorative and design projects.

Cut properties and edge appearance

When cutting cork with a laser, the cut edges may slightly darken due to thermal effects. This effect is natural for laser cutting and is often acceptable or even used as a visual accent. Due to the structure of cork, the cut edges remain stable, as the material is not prone to splitting or peeling. Before production, appropriate cutting parameters are selected to achieve an optimal balance between cut cleanliness and material integrity.

Cork cutting is performed using provided vector files (DXF, SVG, PDF). Before production, we evaluate the cork type, thickness, density, and part complexity to select appropriate cutting parameters and ensure stable results.
