Laser Engraving Cardboard

Types and thickness of cardboard suitable for engraving

We laser engrave various types of cardboard such as model board, packaging cardboard, micro-corrugated board, and other cardboard products suitable for laser processing. The engraving result depends on the cardboard structure, number of layers, surface coating, and density.
Since cardboard is a layered material, engraving usually affects only the surface layer. Thicker or multi-layer cardboard is evaluated individually to maintain image clarity and structural integrity.

Precision and applications

Laser engraving allows clear text, symbols, and simple graphic elements to be produced. Since there is no mechanical contact, the cardboard is not pressed or deformed during engraving.
Laser engraving on cardboard is most commonly used for:
Packaging and box marking,
Models and prototypes,
Presentation and display elements,
Decorative solutions,
Short-term informational products.

Engraving depth and surface appearance

During engraving, the laser removes or darkens the top layer of the cardboard, so the image is formed based on contrast. Depending on the color and structure of the cardboard, the engraved area may darken or acquire a slightly rougher texture.

Due to thermal impact, slight darkening of the cardboard may occur in engraved areas – this is a natural characteristic of laser engraving. Before production, appropriate parameters are selected to maintain a balance between image clarity and material integrity.

Cardboard engraving is performed using provided vector or raster files (DXF, SVG, PDF, JPG, PNG). Prieš graviravimą įvertiname kartono tipą, paviršiaus savybes ir maketo detalumą, kad būtų pasiektas stabilus ir pakartojamas rezultatas.
